China a major focus point at board event;its demand for recovered paper still high

For the 13th straight year,China was increasing its demand for U.S.recovered paper-and was on track to buy 8.85 million tonnes in 2006,up 16% from 7.66 million tonnes in 2005,according to estimates.China's demand principally for U.S.old corrugated and mixed paper has redefined trade flow of the recovered paper materials,and results from China's burgeoning economic growth and packaging development.The UK and Japan,once minor or non exporters of recovered paper,are now major traders of recovered paper in China.The U.S.is the largest supplier of recovered paper to China.
