North American bleached softwood kraft (BSK) pulp markets remain under pressure during a seasonally slower period of demand, and effective list prices are declining $20/tonne in two key grades, in line with the announcements of major producers, industry contacts said. Benchmark northern bleached softwood kraft (NBSK) preliminary effective list prices declined $20/tonne to $960 after Canfor Pulp, Resolute Forest Products, and West Fraser separately announced $960, effective Aug. 1, according to PPI Pulp & Paper Week polling (P&PW, July 31, p. 1).
