FutureMark Manistique to close by Mar. 24; owners 'turn mill over' to bank

FutureMark's 100% recycled uncoated printing and kraft papers mill at Manistique in Michigan will shut on or before Mar. 24 and 147 employees will be laid off, according to documents filed with the state. The filing said the decision to close the facility was "the result of sudden and unanticipated events, including the loss of liquidity, inability to effectuate adequate refinancing, and inability to attract a new owner to operate the mill."
