Domtar counts on its cutsize 'touch' vs imports; meets 2Q downtime in 3Q

North America's largest uncoated freesheet (UFS) paper producer Domtar kept to 51,000 tons of downtime in the third quarter, just as it did in the second quarter, to balance the company's supply and demand, and protect an average $36/ton price increase in UFS, year-over-year. The 51,000 represented 6% of the firm's 823,000 shipments in the quarter. Domtar made 776,000 tons of UFS that it shipped in the quarter, down 4.7% vs third quarter 2013 shipments.
