International Paper has become the second major North American containerboard producer to announce a 40/ton price increase on linerboard and corrugating medium effective with shipments Jan.1.The company-the third largest supplier of containerboard to the U.S.open market-told analysts last week that it informed customers of the increase on Nov.1.If the increase in January is fully implemented,pricing for 42-lb unbleached kraft liner-board in the U.S.would hit a record high level,unadjusted for inflation.
