Surprise 8.9% consumption fall by U.S.dailies;stock at lowest April level since 1979

The decline in newsprint consumption by U.S.daily newspapers accelerated in April,falling 60,000 tonnes or 8.9% compared with a year ago,and the total inventory held by producers and consumers in North America fell again.Year-to-date consumption was off 184,000 tonnes or 7.2%,according to the Pulp and Paper Products Council's North American Newsprint Statistics Flash Report.
