97% operating rate,lower inventories in January may support price increase efforts

Strong operating rates and lower inventories at North American kraft paper mills in January are helping producers with their latest round of price increases,which are currently being implemented,contacts said last week.The price increases are of 25-30/ton for multiwall and kraft converting grades,and 40/ton for grocery sack paper(P&PW,Feb.20,p.9).The hikes were effective in early-to mid-February.
