White Birch Paper,a private company controlled by Peter Brant,reached an agreement to purchase the 235,000 mtpy Papier Masson newsprint mill in Gatineau,Que.The transaction is scheduled to close in the first quarter.Terms of the deal were not released.The estimated enterprise value of the acquisition,assuming it is completed,was in the range of C150-C165 million or C640-C700 per tonne.Most of this estimated dollar amount would be from liabilities including debt and pension.
