Central National set to buy Spicers Canada; its 8th merchant deal since 2010

Central Nafional-Gottesman (CNG) plans to acquire the C$400 million/yr Spicers Canada business from PaperlinX Limited — in what would be CNG's eighth acquisition of a North American paper merchant since 2010. The deal is to close at the end of this month. CNG also acquired Spicers' US unit in 2012 along with Kelly Paper. Spicers Canada operates 15 distribution centers across Canada including two sheeting facilities in Toronto and Winnipeg, as well as cash-and-carry stores.
