Resolute indefinitely removes 250,000 tonnes/yr of newsprint at Baie-Comeau, QC, idles Amos 30 days

Resolute Forest Products will indefinitely shut two newsprint machines at its 463,000 tonnes/ yr Baie-Comeau mill in Quebec on Nov. 30 and idle its 200,000 tonnes/yr Amos, QC, newsprint mill for 30 days on Oct. 31. The combined shuts will remove about 38,000 tonnes of newsprint production from the market this year and about 250,000 tonnes/yr going forward, according to PPI Pulp & Paper Week estimates.
