IP adds $50 price increase on its SBS for Mar. 28; Europe market stabilizes

International Paper (IP) announced a $50/ ton price increase on solid bleached sulfate (SBS) grades effective Mar. 28, coming a week after MeadWestvaco (MWV) set a $50 hike on SBS folding grades effective Apr. 1, according to market contacts. The lone other bleached hike so far this week was a $40/ton price increase on plate/dish/tray grades by Clearwater Paper effective Apr. 1. The increases won't apply to cupstock or bristols, contacts said.
