G-P steps up to close Crossett UFS PM 1; combined G-P/Boise shutdowns reduce 2% of market capacity

Georgia-Pacific (G-P) is expected to permanently shut the lone uncoated freesheet (UFS) paper machine running at its large Crossett, AR, tissue, towel, and bleached board mill in November or December. G-P told employees at the mill on Aug. 20 that it would shut the PM 1. R1SI Mill Intelligence puts PM l's capacity at about 93,000 tons/yr of a range of printing and converting grades in rolls only.
