Plans by some North American newsprint makers for a $40/tonne price increase across the board next month hit a speed bump on June 6 when the second largest producer by capacity, Kruger, developed second thoughts and decided against implementing it in July, contacts said. The company told customers it would review market conditions moving forward. Furthermore, North America's largest producer by capacity, Resolute Forest Products, made no move to announce a July 1 increase and sources said the company believed conditions are not right for a hike.
