Following Liberty Paper's exit from a possible acquisition of Wausau Paper's Brainerd, MN, specialty and tape paper mill for "environmental" reasons, Wausau pres/ CEO Hank Newell this week said that the exit by Liberty "doesn't relate as much to the site as it relates to the capital requirements that were required for that potential buyer (to) produce what they wanted to produce there." "As they looked at the investment required in the site to produce the grades that they wanted, I think probably the environmental piece of that equation was larger than they thought," Newell said.
