Combustible dust cloud explosion is a known threat to the industry. Fine and dry dust generated from the processing of most organic materials could present an explosion hazard if the dust concentration (present within the explosible range) is ignited by an incendive ignition source. Explosions generally occur because of the lack of proper understanding of the "ignition sensitivity" and "explosion severity" properties of the dust being handled/processed/generated, inability to identify and control all potential ignition sources, and absence of effective measures for eliminating/controlling dust explosions.
