Ence raises the environ-mental bar at lourizan

Ence has pledged to invest Euro 19 million (US21.4 million) on environmental improvements at its pulp mill in Lourizan, Pontevedra, in the Spanish region of Galicia. The company produces 365,000 tonnes/yr of bleached eucalyptus pulp at the mill. The funds will be used to reduce concumptio of energy and bleaching chemicals in the Pontevedra facility's effluent treatment plant and the recovery boiler over the next four years. The company said the project will raise the mill's environmental performance above national and Europ9ean Union guidelines.
