Not your father's PaperWeek

THE CANADIAN PULP AND PAPER INDUSTRY has had its share of tough times recently. This has been reflected in the fortunes of the Pulp and Paper Technical Association of Canada's (PAPTAC) signature event, PaperWeek, held annually in Montreal in late January/early February. Some people still refer to it as CPPA (Canadian Pulp and Paper Association) despite the fact that association no longer exists having morphed into the Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC) and PAPTAC. People also have fond memories of the heyday of the event, attracting 15,000-16,000 to Montreal in mid-winter in the late 1980s-early 1990s.
