IN A PREVIOUS Viewpoint we wrote that the "day of reckoning has come for the coated mechanical market." Mechanical publication paper markets were oversupplied and prices were at some of the lowest levels in decades. We wrote that "the current record low level of profitability and continuing declines in demand indicate that mill shuts are imminent."
