EUROPEAN CEO OF THE YEAR-JUSSI PESONEN UPM

Jussi Pesonen has been president and CEO of UPM since January 2004 after originally starting in the company as a production engineer in 1987. This meteoric rise now sees him at the head of a company that turns over close to Euro 9 billion ($12 billion) through its three business groups, Energy and Pulp, Paper and Engineered materials. This is the second time that Pesonen has been awarded European CEO of the year; he also picked up the award in 2007.
