PAPIRUS MULLS OVER NEW CARTONBOARD MACHINE

Papirus is considering plans to install a second cartonboard machine at its mill in Limeira,southeast Brazil.The 32 million scheme is still in the embryonic stage though,and there is no timetable for the unit's startup.In the meantime,the firm intends to upgrade the plant's existing machine to boost its capacity from 95,000 tonnes/yr to 110,000 tonnes/yr.The company is likely to hire the 2.5 m wide unit's original supplier,Voith Paper,to lead the overhaul.The work is slated to take place before the end of this year.The PM manufactures coated recycled cartonboard(GD 2 and GT 1),as well as some specialty grades.Output is sold to converters,merchants and printers.
