Stora Enso would build any future pulp mill in Latin America,China or Russia, but does not plan to relocate its European fiber facilities.The firm's CEO,Jukka Harmala,made the comments in the Swedish press in early March.The remarks gave rise to rumors that the Finnish giant is aiming to shut down pulp capacity in Europe and that it is also mulling over a project in Japan.But Stora Enso's corporate communications chief,Kari Vainio,poured cold water on the speculation."We are not relocating our European mills,which are in good shape,and Japan is not an option," he said."South America,China and Russia are the most feasible places to produce pulp economically and sustainably,in terms of our long-term planning."
