Cmpc gets the green light for new fiber line

CMPC's board of directors was due to give the final go-ahead on plans to build a new 750,000 tonne/yr pulp line at its Santa Fe mill in Chile's central region of Bio Bio at a meeting on July 6.The Chilean environmental authorities have approved the project.The bleached eucalyptus kraft pulp line is slated to start up in late 2006.CMPC has already selected Sweden's AF-Celpap to design the new fiber line.The unit will be built next to Santa Fe's existing bleached hardwood kraft pulp line.
