Arkhangelsk plumps for board option

Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill has opted for waste-based containerboard production as its focus for future growth.The company drew up a shortlist of three possible directions for future strategy at the end of last year.The firm said it could reactivate a mothballed sulfite pulp line,install a coated woodfree PM or venture into waste-based container-board production.Arkhangelsk is in talks with potential partners for a new waste-based containerboard PM.The firm currently manufactures 120,000 tonnes/yr of containerboard on two PMs at its Novodvinsk mill in Arkhangelsk,northern Russia.
