Sheet formation is dependent on many factors in the papermaking process. However, two areas recognized as having significant impacts on formation are forming section configuration and retention aid chemistry. These areas have traditionally been approached somewhat independently, with little regard to the impact that one technology may have on the other. However, Cartones Ponderosa of San Juan Del Rio, Mexico, has implemented a synergistic approach for optimizing sheet formation that incorporates both forming section mechanics and wet end chemistry.
