ISO 9001-based standards for media industry gain first users

The media industry is currently suffering from dwindling credibility and an acute economic crisis in many parts of the world. Staff reductions are reaching dramatic levels in the print press, notably in the US. The Changing Newsroom, an extensive 2008 survey by the Pew Research Center, concluded that the key to newspaper survival is a combination of a good business model and strong journalism, based on a relationship of trust with the public. This seems the right time for media organizations to implement quality management standards (QMS), optimizing both the management of their resources and the quality of their contents.
