Emission spectrum of a solid-state laser with an nonuniform distribution along a Fabry-Perot cavity

The influence of an nonuniform distribution of the unsaturatedgain along a cavity on a competitive interaction of longitudinalmodes was investigated experimenttally and theoretically. Thisnonuniformity is the result of a partial filling of the cavity by theactive medium and of an exponential absorption of the pump radiationalong the active element. An analysis is made of the evidence insupport of this approach to the description of multimode operation ofsolid-state lasers with longitudinal inhomogeneous pumping.
