Competitive advantages created by a cluster collaboration network for supplier management in notebook PC production

It is discussed that among today's stiff competition in the notebook PC firms, the Taiwan-based firm Quanta could emerge as Number 1 notebook PC producer in the world. It is observed that the cluster collaboration network approach followed by Quanta for supplier management has helped to gain competitive advantage over to many competitors in notebook PC production. In this article, the concepts such as cluster, collaboration and network are explained and an analysis framework is presented. As an illustration, it is discussed about how cluster, collaboration and network are practiced by Quanta to achieve profits and excelled in the world market. (23 refs.)
