Improving the quality of meetings using music

Ben Zander is the conductor of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra and the coauthor of The Art of Possibility (Ref. 1). Zander's success as a speaker comes from his ability to capture the attention different types of audiences by illustrations from his experience as a conductor. Many of those attending might have been nervous of coming to a lecture, but it has happened, in a legitimate management setting, and they were exhilarated by the quality of the experience and hence TQM and music can go together well. From time immemorial it was seen that music can influence leadership quality and building trust. In Pretoria South Africa, it is seen that only half of persons use their voices in work situations. Of late music has been losing importance in school curriculum also. However the authors are of the opinion that music can be used as driver in group meetings in TQM to achieve better results (42 refs.)
