The impact of Bologna Process on the development of the Greek quality assurance system

The internationalization of higher education, and the need to evaluate the quality of higher education due to GATS negotiations, and interuniversity cooperation addressed the need for setting standards and criteria at international level. The European Network for Quality Assurance (ENQA) in higher education was established in 2000. Today European Association for Quality Assurance is open to quality assurance agencies from the member states of Bologna process (Ref. 1). Subsequently, European Quality assurance Register EQAR) was formed. European Commission played a key role in this 'quality revolution' in Europe. National quality assurance agencies were established in European countries following this. This was the starting point of developing a quality assurance system in for higher education in most these countries so also in Greece. (45 refs.)
