Economic partitioning of tolerances

摘要

A common practice during the design of mating parts is to assign equal tolerances to each of the components of the assembly. The interrelationship of the process capability of the methods producing the parts and the cost of producing defective parts are considered. Using statistical techniques, a method of allocating tolerances to mating parts on a least cost basis is given.
