Sika and Eiffage Construction have combined to develop Ceracem, a ductile ultra-high performance concrete offering remarkable aesthetic possibilities. This new material, available as a cold-formable ceramic cement, is derived from industrial concrete technology developed by EGI (part of the Eiffage group) at the end of the 1990s. Fuill-scale applications of ductile ultra-high performance fibre-reinforced concrete include 2 nuclear power stations.Sika is a specialist in concrete chemistry and pioneer in the formulation of self-compacting concretes. The result of this partnership is a UHPFRC, available as a factory produced premix, cold formable and capable of being machined after hardening "like a traditional steel." The material allows working to an accuracy of a tench of a millimeter and can substitute for materials such as cast iron, steel, resins and composites.
