The Tamworth-based Instarmac Group plc has launched Cembuild DS, a dry-spray cementitious concrete repair mortar incorporating hydration control technology, and compliant with DTP specification for sprayed concrete and BS 2768. The new polymer modified product, for application to overhead and vertical surfaces has been created to annul the problems of conventional dry systems and provide the benefits of wet systems. Dry sprayed systems comprise of separately conveyed powder and water, which are mixed within the nozzle of the spray gun prior to application. Wet sprayed systems require the product to be pre-mixed before being pumped and applied. The wet method usually produces less waste (rebound), but output tends to be lower than with dry system. On the other hand, although dry systems generally produce more just and rebound, they are able to deliver higher output.
