BUYERS CAN EXPECT prices for microprocessors to continue to fall for at least a year as AMD tries to win market share from Intel.The average microprocessor has fallen 10% so far this year and similar price drops are likely over the next 12 months,according to market researcher IC Insights.The movement to 300mm wafers from 200mm and the migration to 65nm process technology will enable chip makers to reduce prices.The transition to larger wafers and smaller process geometries means Intel and AMD can produce more usable die per wafer.
