IN LATE 2002,SOUTH AFRICAN mining company Anglo Platinum initiated a project to expand its supply base to create more competition.At the same time,the company was moving more of its supplier communications online via a supplier marketplace.But the company's procurement team encountered a unique hurdle in getting some of the newer,smaller and more rural suppliers online.
