A number of potato storage sprout and quality control products have come to market in the last few years. One product, INSIGHT (1,4-Dimenthylnaphthalene), has been used successfully on over 200 million cwt of potatoes since 1997. Its predominant use has been to establish a deep dormancy in fresh potatoes to reduce shrink, and as a result, lessen susceptibility to pressure bruise.
