The computer industry is still the largest consumer of integrated circuits,accounting for about 50% of the chip market in 2004,says market researcher 1C Insights.That's twice the size of the communi-cations 1C market and almost four times the consumer 1C market.The consumer 1C segment market share in 2004 will be 13%,the same as it was 16 years ago.It is overhyped as a user of semiconductors,says Bill McClean,president,1C Insights.
