The slowdown in metalworking activity ended in the autumn of 2003,so buyers began escalating the amount of metal purchased from service centers in the last quarter.While it appears that metal buyers are planning to expand purchases from service centers in 2003 by somewhere between 5% and 10%,the recovery could be delayed by the metals-pricing chaos rampant in the first quarter.
