Response of potato cultivars to nitrogen in the plains of Bihar.

Experiments were conducted during 2002/03 and 2003/04, in Patna, Bihar, India, to evaluate the effects of different N fertilizer levels (0, 80, 160 and 240 kg/ha) on the yield of 6 potato cultivars (Kufri Chandramukhi, Kufri Ashoka, Kufri Pukhraj, Kufri Jyoti, Kufri Chipsona-1 and Kufri Chipsona-2). Results showed that tuber yield increased with increasing levels of N fertilizer. Kufri Pukhraj gave the highest yield among the cultivars.
