GREEN LIGHT FOR BRIDGE'S STORE REFIT

Plans to replace ageing storage test chambers at Sutton Bridge Experimental Unit were approved by the Potato Council last summer. Work is expected to begin soon though the start date still hinges on matched funding being available from the regional development agency. Plans have been drawn up, the necessary approvals have been given and the all-important grant application has been submitted to the East Midlands Development Agency. As this journal went to press, Sutton Bridge manager Adrian Cunnington was hopeful that work on a pound 600,000 research building would be underway by February for completion in June or July. A specialist storage event is being planned for early autumn by way of celebration.
