Not so very long ago, even major corporations were able to keep all of their collected information in only a couple of rooms or offices. Filing cabinets housed contracts, bound ledgers contained financial records, and office drawers and corkboards held memos filled with notes, facts and figures. And while all of this paper took up space, there really wasn't much information being produced.
