Survey of Book Publishing in Russia

摘要

A summary report of the publishing industry, comparative data for thepast two years, location, number and size of publishing companies in Russia.Highlights of leading authors, translation and publishing houses are included in thissurvey. The challenges including the decline of reading in the young adult sector ofthe market and competition of digital media are presented. The article concludeswith a description of efforts to bring Russian authors to the attention of the Englishspeaking world and the role of the Rossica Translation Grants. The development ofthe Rossica Translation Prize, ground rules and awards are described with infor-mation for making applications in 2009.
