13~(th) Congress of the International Psychogeriatric Association and recent expansion of research into psychogeriatrics

摘要

In recent times, there has been a rapid increase in both the elderly population and the physical problems related to aging. Thus, the importance of mental issues in the elderly has increased. The 13th Congress of the International Psychogeriatric Association (IPA 2007 OSAKA SILVER) was held in Osaka on 14-18 October 2007.1 The IPA was established in 1982 to manage the psychiatric problems of a senile population, including dementia, depression, delirium etc., all of which have become major issues in various countries.
