The recovery movement in mental health started taking shape in the United States with the "Vision of Recovery" as articulated by Anthony (1993) and the President's New Freedom Commission (2003). An important ingredient for both the "Visio of Recovery" and the development of recovery-oriented programs is the inclusion of peer-run services (Farkas, Gagne, Anthony, & Chamberlin, 2005).
