A theme that emerges from this issue of Public Health Reports is maternal and infant health. In the lead research article by Sullivan et al., the authors summarize multivitamin use among pregnant and non-pregnant women of childbearing age. Overall, the authors found significant differences in the reported use of multivitamins between pregnant and non-pregnant women. Using national data from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, the authors found that 78% of pregnant women reported multivitamin use compared with 47% of women who were not pregnant
