The two-piece rising design of the stem effectively isolates the stem's rotational movement and shields the internals from torque effects. The roll formed thread resists damage from dirt, dust, rust and abrasion. An unambiguous, clearly visible position indicator promotes safety by making it easy to determine the valve position. The full size safety gland packing is made of pure graphite and can optionally be supplied in PTFE. It acts as a safety backup in case of emergency or failure.
