Editor's note:Visitors are allowed to visit Iwo fima only at the anniversary of the World War II battle fought there.American and fapanese survivors of the battle,their families and others who want to visit are allowed to return for one day.Author David O.Bailey traveled to Iwo fima in March to honor photographer foe Rosenthal,who died last August,and was commemorated as part of the official 2007 ceremonies.
