EU's sustainable growth strategy: some implications on Romanian labour market

According to the Europe 2020 Strategy, achieving sustainable growth is directly correlated with three main targets, namely a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) by a minimum of 20% compared with 1990, an increase in the share of renewables in the energy mix to 20%, as well as an increase in energy efficiency by 20%. This transition to a low-carbon and resource efficient economy is expected to bring some structural changes for European labour market. The aim of this paper is to present the employment impact of this transition process on EU's Member States, and more particularly on Romanian labour market, highlighting also some transformations regarding the set of skills needed, correlated with the speed and depth of economy's greening process.
