Mental health disorders are serious conditions and can manifest in various forms such as suicide, alcohol abuse, addiction and substance dependence. The most common symptoms are anxiety and depression.The correlation between the increasing prevalence of depression and socio-economic factors has been reported in several studies. Given that financial crisis negatively affects main economic indicators such as income and unemployment, its impact on the health status and mental health of individuals has been discussed in the international literature.The current global economic crisis revealed long-term fiscal pathologies and external distortions of the Greek economy and led the country into one of the most serious economic downturns in its modern history. In May 2010, Greece signed the Economic Adjustment Program which involved a series of austerity measures.
