Direct Calculation of Crack Width and Minimum Reinforcement for Constraint according to DIN 1045-1

The basis of the design rules for limiting the width of cracks will be shown in a new, clear mode. The really acting forces in the construction element are given special importance in the case of loading as well as of constraint. On this basis the formulae in the new German Standard DIN 1045-1 are developed in such a way that the design process becomes more practicable. The necessary minimum reinforcement under restraint can directly be quantified without using any charts.
