In vitro regeneration of Passiflora species with ornamental value.

With the aim to exploit the ornamental value of some Passiflora species, nodal cuttings, flower buds and young tendrils from open air and greenhouse-grown plants were cultured in vitro. Micropropagation from nodes was achieved in P. caerulea L. Shoot regeneration was induced from young tendrils in P. trifasciata Lemaire and in the Maurizio Vecchia hybrids P. 'Guglielmo Betto' and P. 'Manta'. Shoots of P. x allardii Lynch, P. foetida L. and P. trifasciata Lemaire were regenerated from immature flower organogenetic callus. In vitro shoot regeneration and multiplication protocols were established.
